Important Credit & Credit Repair News Reported Over the Past Few Months:
 Credit News January 2008

Surprisingly, bankruptcies are among some of the easier things to remove on your credit report.

It seems odd that this would be the case, but more often than not, it is.  There are a couple of reasons this occurs:

1) Bankruptcies are reported to the credit bureaus by the courts...often by court clerks that are underpaid and overworked, with little to no interest in your personal file.

2) The probability for mistakes are high due to the amount of information held in a bankruptcy file.

Working with the government is very different than working with your creditors.  It is very important to deal only with the credit bureaus directly and not the court system when disputing a bankruptcy.  The CreditErasers.comCredit Repair Program will walk you through the proper credit repair steps of removing a bankruptcy from your credit report in this manner.

Overcoming Identity Theft - What to do if someone steals your identity.

How can somebody steal your identity?  This occurs when someone takes your personal information (Social Security Number, driver's license, credit card/ATM numbers, etc.) without your knowledge and commits fraud or theft.

These criminals will often:

  • Open new credit accounts using your name, Social Security Number and date of birth.  Subsequently, they do not pay the bills after they use them and the delinquent account goes on your credit report.

  • They open bank accounts with your name and begin writing bad checks all over town.

If you are a victim of identity theft, it is important to do the following as soon as possible:

  • File a police report immediately.  Be sure to obtain a copy of it, as this will be important in correcting the derogatory information on your credit report.

  • Call the fraud departments of all 3 credit bureaus and ask to have a "victim's statement" inserted into your credit file, so that creditor's are alerted of the problem.

  • Contact your creditors & banks and close any accounts that were effected or opened by the identity thief.

  • Obtain copies of your credit reports from all 3 credit bureaus to find out how much damage was done. You can contact the credit bureaus directly from our Contact CreditErasers page.

Our CreditErasers.comCredit Repair Program will give you the key credit repair steps necessary in removing information caused by identity theft that may appear on your credit report.

 Credit News March 2008

Finally, your credit score is no longer a secret to you!

FICO (Fair Isaac & Co.) score's have always been a secret to everyday consumers...that is up until now!  As of March 2001, FICO scores are accessible by individuals directly when they obtain their credit reports.  Up until now, these scores have only been available only to banks, mortgage lenders, credit card companies -- plus landlords, employers and even insurance companies.

So what? - you might ask.  To understand the importance of these scores you need to understand that your credit score has been the major component in determining whether you were extended credit by any company.  If you were ever denied a loan, a credit card, or a mortgage, more often than not it was due to your credit scores.

FICO scores range from 350, being the lowest, all the way up to 850, which is the highest.  To get an slight idea of how your score is viewed, it is common to say that your credit is excellent if your FICO score is above 700.  From 600-699 you are said to have ok to very good credit. If your credit score is below 600 - you have credit problems (or bad credit) that definitely need attention. Our credit repair program will help you bring your credit scores back up to where they belong.

Determining the exact ingredients that makes up your credit score is extremely complex.  Most of the components that go into your credit score are explained in detail in our CreditErasers.comCredit Repair Program.
